No, seriously. I mean I did play this in 2025 and any time I play this, I always have an enjoyable time. The combat, activations, skills etc are all engaging. Especially the combat where both sides get to fight it out and you know that's my favourite mechanic of all.
Take my Star Wars re-skinned China Station campaign for example. Long and short is you need to retrieve a MacGuffin from a station but your vessel crashed and that complicates matters since the local warlord is not only after the MacGuffin but also you and your crew!
I thought mission 2 of the campaign (rescue your crew mate) would be a cut and dried thing but nooooo... in the end it turned out to be a desperate rush to get the last member of my crew out of durance vile before she got transported to the big city and into the clutches of the local Imperial presence turned warlord in the bigger starport.
Very thrilling game!
I really need to get my terrain and minis printed and painted for mission 3. I already have the STL files. This needs to get priority for early 2026.
And there you have it! Unlike other years, I won't be doing any Honourable Mentions... mainly because I'm afraid despite many promises and teasing, Battlespace remains AWOL in my "played games" list. I have the minis, the cards and the terrain (mostly as STL files). Why haven't I played it yet??!!! (Is it because it uses the detested d20???)
In fact, why haven't I played Zona Alfa more? Or finished the final mission in my Horizon wars Zero Dark game? My mind works in mysterious ways... which is a very nice way of saying my procrastination has taken on whole new levels the older I get.
