The closer we get to the top, we have #04: Firefly Adventures: Brigands and Browncoats.
This game has appeared in my Top Ten list in previous years. And because I played it this year, it appears again.
It's always a lot of fun to play, and re-watching the TV episodes always puts me in the correct mind frame to play the game and have the dialogue from the characters run through my head as I play.
TL; DR: the time mechanic is inspired and very good for activations and since the missions are always versus the game, can be played solo or co-op. There's always the tension between wanting to remain Casual for as long as possible to avoid attention from the baddies versus running out of time to complete the mission.
My vow is one day I'll play Firefly The Board Game to move around the 'Verse and then use this game to play out the missions in a long form campaign. I might even use some RPG lite rules to role play the interactions between Mal and the crew and various NPCs in between battles... just like the TV series.
Who knows, maybe 2026 will be the year I make it happen. (Why didn’t I make this happen in 2025? Good question! Simple answer: my Firefly The Board Game tokens were separated from the actual board game so I couldn’t have played it even if I wanted to. Happily the tokens are now reunited with the board game so 2026 is definitely looking like a possibility this extended play version of Firefly will happen!)
Next: #03 is a NEW entry! I'm pretty sure that those who've been following my blog this year can make a pretty good guess what it is.
