My #05 is a new game to the list: 02 Hundred Hours from Grey For Now Games. top e honest, why this game gets the nod over #6 (CROM) is purely due to the draw of the new over the old.
My game play sessions are here and here and I like this due to the built in Stealth mechanics of the game similar to Zona Alfa and Horizon Wars Zero Dark (that have appeared in earlier iterations of my Top Ten lists).
Unlike many other skirmish games, the goal isn't necessarily kill all enemies but attain objectives.
The first mission you play to familiarise yourself with the rules is to infiltrate off the opposite map edge, so you only fight if necessary. Otherwise, manoeuvre take advantage of terrain, cover to avoid being Detected. Once detected the results are usually fatal unless you get a shot in first and can disappear again into the darkness.
There's lots of mechanics to add fun and flavour to the game: each time your side makes noise, the alert level goes up and up till it's a full blown Alarm and once you hit that there's nothing you can do to bring it down again. There are Event Cards you draw each turn that kind of screw you up... or give you a much needed bonus.
Remember this is a historical game so no multi-wound heroic models for you here. One good shot... and you're down and out.
Plus there are actual solo rules and cards you can download from the publisher's site to play the game solo. I didn't bother to print them out (even though I did download them) and went with my own solo hack which worked well to give me the unpredictability you want in a solo game.
Thanks to what I paid for the shipping + taxes for Port Royal (An Adventure Skirmish Miniatures Game set in the Searover's Caribbean), I'm not able to purchase this game for myself but thanks to the generosity of my FLGS owner, I get to play this.
So if a historical solo WW2 game with deadly stealth mechanics is your thing... give this a try.
